JusPrin - The first GenAI 3D printing app
Back in 2019, I built The Spaghetti Detective. It was the first AI tool made specifically for the 3D printing community. Fast forward a few years, and we’re in the GenAI era. But there have been no GenAI apps for the 3D printing.
Well, that’s about to change. Meet JusPrin, the first GenAI app for 3D printing. No slicing. Just print.
Why slicing sucks
Generative AI is popping up everywhere—creating art, helping us write, generating code snippets, you name it. But strangely, in the 3D printing space, slicing and configuring prints is still mostly manual, requiring lots of tinkering and adjusting settings, mostly based on experience (aka "the gut feeling").
For instance:
- Is 20% infill enough for a strong print? Should I increase it to 30%, 50%, or 80%?
- Is it better to increase wall count, or increase wall thickness for a stronger print?
- I want stronger adhesion, should I set PLA to 200°C or bump it to 210°C?
How JusPrin works
Here’s how it works: JusPrin uses GenAI to set up slicing parameters for you. It figures out what should work best for your print job, saving you from the endless back-and-forth of adjusting things manually. It’s designed to take the guesswork out of the process, which can be especially helpful for folks who are new to 3D printing. And for those who are already pros, it can speed things up and take some of the mental load off, letting you focus on the fun part—making cool stuff.
Imagine being able to skip the slicing step entirely and just hit “print.” No endless tweaking of layer height, infill density, speeds, supports, or all those other settings that make slicing software feel like a mini-science project. The idea behind JusPrin is simple: No slicing. Just print.
Recruiting beta testers!
JusPrin has surprised me more than once. It’s come up with slicing settings that I’d never thought to try, and a lot of the time, it’s able to get a good print quality or reduce the risk of issues. But let’s be real, JusPrin is still in beta, so it’s not a magic bullet, yet. Sometimes it picks settings that aren’t quite right, and every now and then, it might crash (beta software does what it wants, right?). But even in this early stage, It’s kind of like having a 3D printing assistant with a quirky, creative side that sometimes does things you wouldn’t expect.
This is where you come in! JusPrin is now available for beta testing and we will love your feedback! Your insights will be a huge help in making it better. If you spot anything weird, like settings that seem off or if it crashes on you, please shoot me an email. JusPrin is still in its early days, and with your feedback, it can only improve from here.
