Why Open-Source?

We believe the best solution is a transparent community-built smart 3D printing platform.

Like OctoPrint, Obico is open-source software registered under the AGPLV3 license. Open source means customizable and hackable. As makers, we love customization. We made Obico completely open-source so you can optimize it for your favorite 3D printer, or your fleet of multiple printers.

Since We’re Open-Source, You Can Choose How You Host Obico

Self-Host

  • Locally hosted on your own server
  • Some technical skills and additional hardware required
  • Fully customizable. Optimize your setup to your liking.
  • Associated costs depend on your server configuration

Obico Cloud

  • Managed and maintained by Obico
  • No technical skills or additional hardware required.
  • If you are running OctoPrint, Fluidd, or Mainsail, you can get started in less than five minutes.
  • Free plan for occasional printing. Pro plan for more frequent printing.

FAQ's

Is Obico for OctoPrint a free plugin?
Obico’s free plan is 100% free. It gives you full remote access to your 3D printer from anywhere with the Obico mobile app or web app. The free plan is limited to one printer and some other features are limited. The Obico Pro Plan starts at less than the cost of one starbucks per month and gives you access to additional features like the ability to start prints and upload gcode remotely, premium 25fps webcam streaming, more failure detection hours and more. If you have the technical chops, you can also configure your own self-hosted Obico server using your own hardware. Check out the pricing page or compare self-hosting versus Obico Cloud.
Is Obico’s OctoPrint remote access secure?
Yes. The connection to your OctoPrint is protected by SSL-encryption, and it is authenticated with a login credential that is only associated with your account. Your account password is encrypted and stored in Obico’s database as a hash. This means even the Obico’s staff members won’t know your password. As long as you don’t share your password with anyone else, you will be the only one who can access your OctoPrint.
Does OctoPrint need to be running on a Raspberry Pi?
Obico works fine if you aren’t running OctoPrint on a raspberry pi, but you will not be able to take advantage of the premium streaming if OctoPrint is not installed on a raspberry pi.
Can I use Obico without OctoPrint?
Yes. Obico also has a moonraker plugin so you can monitor and control your 3D printer running Klipper with Fluidd or Mainsail from anywhere.
